Purpose
To support the University Sports Day, promote physical activity and healthy lifestyles, strengthen campus culture, foster teamwork, and enhance camaraderie among faculty members and students, Yuan Ze University is organizing the President’s Cup Inter-Class Tug-of-War Competition.

Eligibility
All currently enrolled Yuan Ze University students may participate. Registration must be made on a class basis.
Registration
- Team Composition
- Each team shall consist of 12 male students and 4 female students, with up to 10 male substitutes and 10 female substitutes.
- Each class may register one team only.
- If a class does not have sufficient members, one team may be registered on behalf of a department or graduate institute.
- Registration Period
Registration is open from now until 4:30 PM on October 6, 2026. Please submit the completed registration form to Ms. Liu at the Office of Physical Education.
- Competition Draw
The match schedule will be determined by a draw conducted by the Office of Physical Education and announced on the Office of Physical Education website on October 7, 2026.
Competition Rules
- The competition will primarily be conducted in a single-elimination format, subject to adjustment based on the number of participating teams.
- Each match will consist of three rounds, with the winner determined by a best-of-three format. Each round is limited to 30 seconds. For the Final Four Championship, each round will be limited to 1 minute. A 2-minute break will be provided between rounds.
- If a round remains undecided after the time limit expires, the team that has pulled the center marker farther toward its side will be declared the winner.
- Teams must complete check-in five minutes before the scheduled match time. A team that fails to present the required number of participants by the start of the match and causes a delay will be deemed to have forfeited the match.
- Participants must pull the rope backward only. Deliberately swinging the rope from side to side or intentionally releasing the rope in a manner that may injure opponents is prohibited. Violators will be disqualified.
- Registered substitutes may replace players during the competition as necessary; however, individuals not listed on the official roster may not participate. Verified violations will result in disqualification.
- Special Rule
If the required number of male or female participants cannot be met, substitutions may be made at a ratio of two male students for three female students (2 males = 3 females).
All substitute participants must be listed on the official registration roster. Participants who are not on the roster are not eligible to compete. Any verified violation will result in disqualification.
Awards and Penalties
- Awards
- The top four teams from the preliminary rounds will advance to the finals on the day of the University Sports Day.
- A trophy will be awarded to each of the top four teams.
- Penalties
- The referee's decision shall be final. Any participant who insults a referee, verbally abuses another student, or engages in harmful conduct will result in:
- A deduction of 40 points from the student's Physical Education grade; and
- A deduction of 40 points from the department's Sportsmanship Championship score for the University Sports Day.
Notes
- Preliminary rounds will be held if eight or more teams register.
- The top four teams advancing from the preliminary rounds will compete in the finals on the day of the University Sports Day.
- The competition will be cancelled if fewer than eight teams register.
The organizer reserves the right to amend these regulations and announce any revisions as necessary.
