Rules and Regulations for the President’s Cup Badminton Team Tournament (Academic Year 114)

I. Purpose

This tournament is organized to promote the sport of badminton, enhance physical and mental well-being, and strengthen friendship and interaction among departments.

II. Organizing Unit

Physical Education Office.

III. Co-organizing Unit

Yuan Ze University Badminton Varsity Team.

IV. Competition Date

May 11, 2026 (Detailed match schedules will be announced by the Office of Physical Education.)

V. Venue

University Gymnasium.

VI. Eligibility and Events

    • Participation is by department or institute.
    • Competition Events:
      Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles, and Mixed Doubles (Team Event).
    • Departments within the same college may form inter-departmental college teams.
      Each college may register one team for the team event.

VII. Registration

    • Deadline: By April 27, 2026, 14:00.
    • Method:
      Registration forms may be downloaded from the Office of Physical Education website.
      Completed forms must be submitted to the Office of Physical Education (Contact person:LIU Jia‑Chen).
    • Draw Lots:
      April 27, 2026, at 12:30 p.m.
      Location: Conference Room, 3rd Floor, Health and Leisure Center
      Teams not present at the draw will have their lots drawn by the Office of Physical Education, and the results shall not be disputed.

VIII. Competition Rules

    1. Regulations:
      The tournament shall be conducted in accordance with the latest rules issued by the Badminton Association of the Republic of China.
    2. Competition Format:
      The format will be determined based on the number of registered teams.
      • Matches are played under the 21-point rally scoring system.
      • Finals adopt a point-based system, with the first team to obtain 3 points declared the winner.
      • General Division matches use a 3-point total system, with each game played to 15 points.
        Finals require 2 points to win.
    3. Round-robin Ranking Criteria:
      Rankings will be determined in the following order: a. (Total points won) ÷ (total points lost)
      b. (Total games won) ÷ (total games lost)
      c. (Total points scored) ÷ (total points conceded)
    4. Participation Rules:
      Each player may compete in only one event per match.

IX. Match Regulations

    1. Teams must carefully check their match schedules and submit the completed lineup sheet 10 minutes before the match. Failure to submit the lineup on time will be considered a forfeit. Any changes to the match schedule shall be announced by the organizing unit.
    2. Players must report on time. Any player who fails to appear 10 minutes after roll call will be disqualified.
    3. In team events, lineups may not skip matches. Any skipped match and all subsequent matches will be counted as losses.
    4. To ensure smooth progress of the tournament, the organizing unit reserves the right to adjust or split matches if necessary.

X. Awards

The top four teams will be awarded trophies in recognition of their performance.

XI. Supplementary Provisions

Any matters not covered in these regulations shall be amended and announced by the organizing unit as necessary.
